Discover the Legacy and Vision of the Swedish Flakmoped

The Flakmoped has been around for over 70 years now and every Swede you meet will have a story to tell you relating to one.

Back in the days, when milk was delivered to your door step, fishermen brought their catch to the market and handymen travelled across the cities, the Flakmoped was a crucial everyday vehicle. Today, we are actually slightly moving back to door delivery when you think about food and parcel delivery – it’s not a new concept to have fresh milk delivered to your doorstep every morning.

More than just a means to an end

While the Flakmoped was of course pivotal in the industry, it also gave freedom to many. It even is reflected in the instructions manual of the 1193 model where two different loading capacities were listed, according to age: maximum of 150kg if the driver is over 18 years old, and 100kg if they are underage. Many old photos show teenagers driving Flakmoped, presumably for both business and pleasure.

And while it was strictly speaking never allowed to drive people around on the flat bed, it may still occasionally occur under Sweden’s Midnight Sun.
